About Me

I am a photographer at heart (self-taught) and an occupational therapist by trade and education.
Over the past five years, I have been studying, learning and shooting a lot and that's how the photographer in me came alive. That and all the support from my family and friends, especially the father of my daughter (who will always have a place in my heart.)  And last, but not least I thank God  for the gift and the passion to pursue it and for putting such amazing people in my life to support me.
My style is changing (after all there is a saying - You're only as good as the last image you made.) I keep pushing my creative boundaries, I keep imagining and creating. But one thing I stay true to - capturing the inner beauty and who the subject is on the inside, if that make sense. I especially love photographing kids, teenagers, and people in love. They don't try to pose or look good - they just are and most do a really good job getting lost in the moment, allowing me to capture them, at their best :)
I'd describe my style right now as lifestyle portrait photography with posed shots as well as those sweet, little 'life as it happens' moments that always make you smile and give you warm fuzzies when you look back.
A little bit more about me... As a pediatric occupational therapist, I realize the great need for more photographers to really learn how to capture children with special needs. Working with individuals with special needs as an occupational therapist helped shaped my views of what photography can accomplish. I know that a photograph can be creatively and artistically produced which depicts natural features positively. My upbringing and the culture I grew up in enriched me and brought a different perspective to my artistic eye, and I like to believe, to life in general.
One of my primary ways that I serve my community is providing photography for Parent Advocates Down Syndrome, VSA (http://vsaalabama.org), and Art in Avondale Park (http://artinavondalepark.org). I am also part of the American Child Photographer's Charity Guild, an organization that allows me the opportunity to give free services to children with illnesses.
I am very passionate about what I do and while it is more than a job for me, it is not my life. I am still fascinated with the ways my daughter, Kaylen experiences and discovers life every day (she came to me on evening November in 2000)... Making others smile makes me content.
Cannot wait to hear from you!!
