We are now a Stick Head Family and Lovin' It!

I just realized that I have not posted an entry regarding the newest chapter in my life (more so for my family). Last year was one of the hardest for Kay with all the testing and seeing a change with her confidence. We were able to find out more about what was going with her and now it seems things are getting better especially with her confidence. She mentioned an interest in football to me and Ivan. We both know ,she loves playing sports and thought it would alright, but in the back of my head, I was thinking...mmm NOT! So I talked to her movement teacher, Jennifer at her school. She provided me her insight and suggestions about what sports would be good for her to play especially the ones that would focus on her weaknesses. She suggested the following: lacrosse, basketball, and gymnastics. She also provided me some insight in regarding to Kay.

Let me share this (one of the many reasons why I love Kay's school, the teachers really are in tune with their students)....**in my squeaky voice: RARITY!**

"You are an OT.....remember. She is bright and intelligent and our society sadly does not value that enough to safely protect the brain. Too many injuries. Part of me says...go Kaylen....then the rest of me says.....OMG. Swimming? Tennis? Lacrosse? Flag football? Ultimate? Anything but football, martial arts and soccer. Also, what do those team sports teach....the underlying theme (ya know...what will she practice in this play?). To invade the space of others. Run over the weak. Steal and sneak. Do...don't think. Kay needs a game to challenge her weaknesses. Find a game where space is respected, the physical body is valued not trashed....not strengenthened to take a hit. Any time a child plays one of these sports they carry the mentality of the game with them.....they CANNOT separate the game from what they do.....which IS why I spend so much time carefully choosing games for our kids."

This really stuck to me.. So we decided on the game LACROSSE and guess what! She is loving it. This is her first year playing this sport and she is getting pretty darn good with it. As a mom, it is so good to her smile and seeing her confidence increase. (starting to tear up with this one). The joy of seeing her on the field is just speechless and makes me so proud to see her play. I also love her competitive side.. I wonder who she gotten that from... Anyway, seeing her score and running that field is just amazing to me. I want to share with you some pictures from recent game.

Check out those muscles on her!

She is pretty fast....

Also, if you do no not mind, please leave a comment on this post. She loves seeing what people are saying about her..

Keep this in mind, everyone!

I feel like this is an appropriate quote of the day. I am actually dedicating this quote to a close friend of mines.

March Madness (part one)

I love the month of March for many reasons such as waving winter goodbye and saying hello to the spring (even though the winter has some spring like weather, weird.) Goodbye to the one hour extra for sleep (I need it back...NOW) and hello one hour less of sleep. I am also saying hello to Kaylen's new sport of lacrosse and I have to say, I am loving being a lacrosse mom. It is a great joy watching her play and it is only going to get better.
I am definitely saying hello MARCH MADNESS, if you do not know, I love me some basketball especially when I was younger that was one of four sports I kicked butt in. The month of March is also has been a breaking point for my photography. I remember frankly that I said I will never do a wedding in my career, I rather be a second shooter for someone.. Well guess what! That has changed. My style changed and my sessions are changing. I am learning being more personal with my clients will help me with my new endeavors. I have to admit, I am working with a wonderful planner. (STAY TUNED .. THIS CHICA IS GETTING CERTIFICATED AS A WEDDING AND EVENT PLANNER.. ALSO SHE IS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A WEBSITE AND BLOG.. I will help her of course. Why wouldn't I? She helped me. Your blessings always come back to you in threes. March has brought me some pain and misery which I need to be strong and pray and think positive. It also has me thinking about what I need for my business as well as my professional career as an occupational therapist.. Decisions.. Decisions. One thing, I do have to announce will be price changes... Please stay tuned for Part 2 of March Madness for Tosha Gaines Photography...

St. Patty Day Engagement Session

Some of you may have known that six weeks ago, I broken my hand. I am finally in a brace but I have not shoot outside for a session for a long time since my accident. For this session, I was using the luck of the Irish hoping that my hand will not give me any kind of trouble. Luckily, I had to remove the brace once due to the fact it was so freaking hot and it was starting to sweat and itch (yuck!)

Let me introduce this lovely and dressed for St. Patty Day Couple: David and Tammy!!!

Aren't they a cute couple. They were brave enough to brace the heat and the walk at Ross Bridge (Hoover, Ala) to capture some wonderful moments. I also was able to capture a few family shots with the kiddos (fun, fun, fun).

On a side note, The Johnson family are like kin folks to me (did I go there with the southern slang, I surely did!). I am so happy that I will part of their special day..

Yeah, I am shocked too .. me .. Tosha.. Weddings.. Photographer.. the Main one.. I must be moving on up and people actually think I am good.. Who would have thought?
